The SMART Part 1 Workshop presents a multisensory approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling across the curriculum. This approach makes it possible to meet your Response to Intervention (RTI) needs whether implementing in a Tier I, Tier II, or Tier III setting. You will learn the skills necessary to teach phonemic awareness, the alphabetic principle (phonics), vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. This workshop utilizes methods that support classroom and special education teachers, reading specialists and paraprofessionals in presenting reading instruction. Teachers and students become involved in a process of discovery and learning in a fun, yet cognitive way that lasts a lifetime. Continuous assessments guide educators in making decisions regarding implementation for a differentiated delivery model. From Words to Works: Developing Writing Skills |

This hands-on workshop explores useful strategies for developing students' writing skills. This presentation includes the motor component, list generation, grammar, sentence creation, paragraph development, and proofreading and editing techniques. Participants learn a structured, sequential approach to developing students' writing skills. They practice with the various teaching strategies introduced and learn techniques they can apply the very next day in their classrooms! 2 days - 1 PLU - 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

This 3 day workshop will allow you to take your SMART Part 1 knowledge to the next level. This course will cover comprehension, syntax, semantics, vocabulary, morphemes, prefixes, suffixes, and more. You will learn how to teach FUN, structured, research-based lessons using hands-on teaching strategies. Materials will be provided. Cost: $595.00 per person; includes materials. Join us for a fun filled week of searching for clues and following the trail to becoming a better reader! Boost the reading talents of your 5-8 year old! This fun, hands-on camp will enhance your young readers' skills by targeting: handwriting, phonemic awareness, sound knowledge and phonics. Camp runs from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Campers will receive: - instruction from highly qualified, caring instructors - at-home activities for reinforcement - low student-teacher ratio Camp cost is $250.00 per week and will be held in both Atlanta and Alpharetta.
