Thanks so very much to all of you for the help you gave my son this summer. His progress has been remarkable! Because of your program he will start out this school year with great success. We thank Syllables Reading Center for the wonderful opportunities they have to offer.
Our 7 year old son, Peter, could not read. His first grade classroom work was being extremely modified and he was being sent to EIP (Early Intervention Program) classes every day for 45 minutes. Nothing was working for him at school or at home. This was not only showing in his school work, but his happiness and self-confidence were suffering greatly, too. We had to do something, and that is when we called Syllables. They began working with Peter for one hour a week after school. Syllables taught Peter in 25 hours what the schools, or we as parents, were unable to do in almost 2 years. The methods they used made sense to Peter – it was clicking. The therapists at Syllables have shown such a genuine interest in our son’s reading and education, and his life will be so much better because of the caring work that they have done. Syllables has saved his self-confidence and shown him he is a bright kid who just thinks a little differently. Syllables has given us something priceless, our son’s smile.
My son and I were driving in the car after school and he was so excited about his day. He said, “Mom, I’m really having fun at school, and I’m doing great, and I know a lot – I raise my hand a lot. In math, I was the only one that knew an answer on the board!” So now, I’m filled with tears and I asked him, “What do you think has made such a difference?” He quickly answered with one word, “Syllables!”
Thanks so much for all of your hard work with Jason. Of course, we have seen such a difference in his reading but more importantly, you all make this work so enjoyable for Jason. I really thought I would have to battle to get him there twice a week, after a long day at school, but except for a few moans and groans he willingly goes every Monday and Wednesday – I think that is because of the wonderful staff!
